Bassnectar

Freebird Live - 09.14.10

Electronica has come to Jacksonville. With glowsticks and LEDs, dancers jammed into The Freebird Live to be pleasantly fed with the sinister beats of Monozygotik, Eskmo, and Bassnectar. With ground shaking rhythms and debilitating bass, the dubstep movement is slowly yet swiftly moving into the Jacksonville scene.

San Francisco native, Lorin Ashton aka Bassnectar did not fail to live up to the hype. A usual main-stage at festivals worldwide Freebird Live was privileged to experience some of the newest and most recent releases. From Album Timestrech to The Art of Revolution, Bassnectar surrounded you with so much sound that all senses could have easily been overloaded. You could feel the rush of the music as it feeds into your ears, and as it crawls up from the floor to your legs. Your eyes become overloaded with the copious amount of mystical backdrops and laser shows, and your ears get destroyed with the most wobbling of basslines, and crunchtastic beats. Bassnectar made you want to rip off everything and just get down and dirty in the dance pit.

Before the amazing Bassnectar, Freebird Live was provided with yet another San Francisco Treat, native Eskmo. As he started the tremendous flow of beautiful beats, and encouraging lights Eskmo created a robotic sound that made you feel like the Terminator was right around the corner. With such a drumming bass line, and super mashed up rhythms, the sold out crowd at Freebird Live was fed with enough dancing juice to help light a small city. With such heavy driven beats, and a mastery of genres placed throughout music Bassnectar provided a sold out crowd with a smash up of sensuous sound that could sooth the soul and build the rage up all at the same time. Even though the venue was smaller than what they are used too, Bassnectar delivered, and with a vengeance.
